For hundreds of years, Vermonters have turned to the forest to heat their homes. Wood is a renewable resource. At Rising Sun, our firewood is 100% Vermont hardwoods. We work with loggers who respect the land. Using locally grown hardwoods, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable use of our natural resource. 

Our firewood is available in accurate measures of full, half or face cord quantities or as handy carrying bundles of firewood and kindling. 

About Kiln-Dried Firewood

Kiln-dried firewood delivers a higher BTU, does not produce the potentially harmful creosote buildup in chimneys and leaves little ash. The treated wood is bug-free and contains no fungus, a relief to individuals who may suffer from allergies.  The kiln-dried wood destroys the breeding ground of the Asian Long horned Beetle and Emerald Ash Borer, a troublesome infestation of Northern forests. Kiln-dried wood allows campers and others to transport the wood across state lines without fear of infesting the forests. 

Kiln-dried firewood has ± 15% moisture compared to ± 35% moisture in seasoned firewood. Unseasoned (green) firewood can contain 50% or more moisture.  Rising Sun uses electronic probes installed into the kiln-dried firewood to ensure that it meets or exceeds the requirements of heat-treated firewood.
